What it does

Full protocol stack for realistic tests

HCE emulation

Emulate an ICAO Doc 9303 contactless chip (AID A0000002471001) and watch every APDU in real time.

Security protocols

BAC and PACE (NIST & Brainpool curves, AES-128/192/256), Secure Messaging, Active & Chip Authentication, Passive Auth (EF.SOD).

IAS-ECC flows

Italian CIE online authentication and electronic signature with PIN/PUK, for end-to-end middleware testing.

Read real chips

Read a physical eID/eMRTD over NFC (PACE/CAN or BAC/MRZ) and import readable data groups into a profile.

Configurable data

DG1 (MRZ), DG2 (photo), DG3, DG4 (iris), DG7 (signature), DG11/DG12, with a dynamically signed EF.SOD.

Country presets

Specimen presets for Italy, Germany, France, Spain, UK, USA and ICAO Utopia. Light/dark, phone & tablet, 6 languages.

Intended use. eMRTD Lab is a testing and development tool for engineers and QA. It uses synthetic test data and its own test signing keys, cannot create genuine government-signed credentials, and is not affiliated with any issuing authority. Use it only on documents and credentials you are authorized to test. Reading a document requires its physical presence and access key (CAN or MRZ).
